Summary

We are seeking a talented bioinformatics software developer to join the BioMedicine Design organization at Pfizer. The successful candidate will join a small team of computational biologists and software engineers at sites in the US and Ireland to develop a broad array of computational tools in support of cutting edge approaches to early stage biotherapeutic discovery.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining applications to enable capture and analysis of data to accelerate discovery and enable decision making that drives biotherapeutic projects across a broad range of disease areas. This includes processing and analysis of NexGen Sequencing data as well as assay data and the results of predictive AI models.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • MS or Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field with research experience in academia or the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong software development skills ideally including python or R, object-oriented programming, full stack web application development, continuous integration, and source code management (git).
  • Understanding of relational database technology and competence with SQL. Ability to design relational schemas to represent real-world data.
  • Ability to design easy to use intuitive user interfaces.
  • Ability to write concise, helpful workflow documentation.
  • Strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field ideally with an understanding of basic immunology and antibody biochemistry.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ideally some understanding of basic pharmaceutical industry concepts
  • Ideally some familiarity with antibody discovery technologies such hybridoma, antibody display, protein purification etc. The position will not involve actual laboratory work but it will be essential to be able to discuss results with project team members working in the lab.
