Postdoc Position in Virology at Influenza Systems Biology Lab, University of Missouri-Columbia
The Wan lab at the University of Missouri (MU) Bond Life Sciences Center is seeking a Postdoc Research Associate in the area of Comptational Biology at the Influenza Systems Biology Laboratory, which is affiliated across Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Engineering, Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, and MU Institute for Data Science and Informatics at University of Missouri (MU). The lab has accesses to the regional BSL3 and ABSL-3 biocontainment laboratory at the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases Laboratory.
The Wan lab research focuses on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, especially influenza viruses, by developing and applying integrated, multi-scale, and evidence-based approaches that combining laboratory, clinical and computational methods.
The responsibilities of the position include are 1) to develop and apply novel methods for influenza vaccine strain selection, 2) to develop novel vaccines and antiviral therapy for influenza and emerging pathogens (e.g. SARS-CoV-2), 3) to study the impacts of repeated vaccination on vaccine effectiveness, and/or 4) to study molecular mechanisms of virus transmission, pathogenesis, and immunological responses for influenza viruses and emerging pathogens (e.g., SARS-CoV-2).
