General Purpose: 

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and working in collaboration with laboratory personnel, this position will collect, analyze and present findings regarding neurodevelopmental events in C. elegans embryos, including preparation of scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published records. The position will also create nematode transgenic strains through microinjection, and organize freezing, storing and managing the laboratory transgenic nematode strains. The position will also interact with external contacts such as researchers from other institutions and vendors to consult research methods and assist in the ordering and organization of lab reagents. Advanced knowledge in C. elegans husbandry, genetics and imaging, and in molecular biology, a plus.

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline and one year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated and reliable with exceptional attention to detail and an ability to work both independently after training and as part of a research team.
  • Good record-keeping abilities, extreme attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability in molecular biology, knowledge in C. elgans transgenics and micro injections.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to perform complex experiments from start to finish.
  • Preferred Education and Experience: Expertise in worm husbandry, freezing, and thawing of strains.
