The University of Chicago’s Biological Sciences Division (BSD) and Pritzker School of Medicine seek applications for tenure-track assistant professor positioning. The BSD comprises ten basic science departments (https://biologicalsciences.uchicago.edu/about/basic-science-departments), thirteen research-intensive clinical departments (https://biologicalsciences.uchicago.edu/about/clinical-departments), and numerous interdisciplinary graduate programs, institutes, and centers. This assistant professorship are for those who will best complement and extend the research and educational contributions of the existing faculty, and are not restricted to any specific discipline. Appointment will be in an appropriate department of the BSD.

This search complements numerous department-based searches (see https://academicjobs.uchicago.edu/positions ); we encourage multiple applications to all searches of interest.

The University is an exciting center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration and participation as graduate student trainers abound. Most university divisions and centers, including the Biological Sciences Division, University of Chicago Medical Center, Physical and Social Sciences Divisions, and Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, are contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s vibrant Hyde Park neighborhood, where many faculty and students live. Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available, as will the potential for interactions with our off-campus affiliates, Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory.  The BSD supports its faculty through offices such as Faculty Affairs (https://voices.uchicago.edu/bsdfacultyaffairs/ ), Diversity and Inclusion (https://voices.uchicago.edu/bsddiversity/ ), Core Facilities (https://biologicalsciences.uchicago.edu/resources/osrf-core-facilities ), and Academic Affairs (https://biologicalsciences.uchicago.edu/resources/oaa-academic-affairs-landing ).

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be considered, those interested must apply through the University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/80360. Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography and a ≤ 1-page statement of prospective contribution to the research and educational programs of the BSD as a faculty member. The statement may include a description of the candidate’s experience in teaching diverse students [the University’s Diversity Statement can be found at https://provost.uchicago.edu/statements-diversity]. We will consider group applications if each member applies; please indicate this in the statement.

Review of complete applications will begin no earlier than 1 December 2020 and repeat at least quarterly thereafter.
