SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Grant Program Manager position is to provide administrative oversight and research administration support for TMP's basic science faculty members. This position supports multiple complex grant activities for the department and impacts the capability of the TMP PIs to reach their scientific and administrative goals.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Pre-Award Administration

  • Manages grant administration for the research faculty of the Department of Translational Molecular Pathology.
  • Submits proposals for high volume research department to include, collection of required documents, budget development and justification, COIs, PI guidance from start to finish of application and adherence to all sponsor and institutional guidelines.
  • Develops and reviews all grants for accuracy and compliance in department before submission to OSP.
  • Communicates with the Office of Grants and Contracts, Office of Research Administration and NIH regarding grant preparation/submission, including sub-contracts, core grants, etc.
  • Completes JIT, progress reports and other ad hoc sponsor requests.
  • Communicates with personnel at other institutions (sub contracts) regarding deadlines, budgets and other requirements for division collaborative grants.


Post Award Administration

  • Reviews grant and contract awards for restrictions and special conditions and relays this to the award recipient.
  • Evaluates the Principal Investigator's research plan, purchases and personnel to determine if compliance has been met, budget is spent according to proposed budget and milestones are submitted and or met.
  • Meets with faculty routinely to determine their research needs for both grant support and general funding.
  • mental, financial, lab, upper leadership and external groups and sponsors) to ensure the successful execution of the award.
  • Works with Grants and Contracts Accounting and NIH in assisting in the transfer of existing grants from the former institution
  • Works closely with the divisional senior management analyst regarding research related fiscal matters.


Research Administration

  • Manages Grant Program Coordinators to include workload, work review, training and professional guidance.
  • Manages effort reporting for the department.
  • Meet quarterly with Principal Investigators to proactively review grant funding status, research personnel support and deadlines and to ensure compliance with prior approval requirements of each funding agency.

Bachelor's degree.Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
