Post-Doctoral Fellow in Integrative Cell and Molecular Biology of Heart Diseases and Regeneration
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available in the Center for Cardiovascular Research, Department of Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine located in the beautiful Kakaako waterfront new campus. Taking advantage of novel model systems and cutting-edge biotechnologies, the Postdoc Fellow will study in multi-disciplinary research projects covering integrated, systems cellular and molecular, multi-epigenetic mechanisms controlling cardiomyocyte development, growth, maturation versus dedifferentiation, cell cycle states, and endogenous and exogenous heart regeneration. Candidates with strong research experiences in cell and molecular biology, patho-physiology, mouse models, are encouraged to apply. Experiences in the following interdisciplinary aspects will be a plus for their research: transgenic mouse models, isolation and culture of cardiomyocytes or primary cells and human and rodent pluripotent stem cells and their differentiation; adenovirus/lentivirus; immunohisto- and cyto-chemistry; flow cytometry; microscopy and automatic imaging analysis; and cellular electrophysiology. Experience in small animal surgery, functional genomics/epigenetics, bioinformatics, or bioengineering is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications: A recent graduate of PhD, MD or equivalent with no more than three years of postdoctoral research experience. Experience in research work on heart development, cardiovascular diseases or stem cell biology/regenerative biomedicine, or studies on transgenic animal models; with track records of publications/presentations.
