Job Details

The lab of Dr. Jason Christie at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience is currently searching for postdoctoral candidates interested in studying neural circuits of learning. The select candidate will participate in a well-funded research program examining how behavior is flexibly shaped by cerebellar-dependent processing using a variety of advanced recording techniques. This includes in vivo two-photon microscopy, electrophysiology, and optogenetics in behaving mice (see recent work: Gaffield et al. 2019 Neuron, Rowan et al. 2018 Neuron). We also use acute brain slices and patch clamp electrophysiology to decipher how cellular physiology and synaptic function provides a basis for the cerebellum’s role in behaviorally relevant computation.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Neuroscience or Biophysics. Previous experience with electrophysiology and/or light-microscopy is preferred. Also, candidates with technical backgrounds including electronics engineering, computer science, or physics are highly encouraged to apply.

In addition to submitting materials online at http://www.mpfi.org, applicants should provide a statement of research interests with their CV and list of references.

For additional information please contact Dr. Christie directly: jason.christie at mpfi.org.
