A Postdoctoral Research Scientist position is available immediately for a highly motivated candidate to help develop gene-expression based approaches for biological radiation dosimetry, and to study the impact of different radiation modalities (dose, dose-rate, LET, organ-specific effects). The current project also includes study of the contribution of senescence to radiation lung injury in mouse models. Our laboratory is in the Center for Radiological Research (crr.columbia.edu) in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in Upper Manhattan. We also work very closely with physicists at the Radiation Research Accelerator Facility (www.raraf.org/) located in Westchester County, upstate New York. Therefore, the position offers opportunities for collaborative studies with both physicians and physicists.

Minimum Degree Required: Ph.D. and/or M.D.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have experience in cellular and molecular biology, especially RNA techniques for gene expression, as well as excellent communication and writing skills. A background in radiation science, mouse work, biostatistics and/or development of radiation biodosimetry would be strongly preferred.

To apply, please provide a statement of research interests detailing what unique contributions you bring to this position and how you see it fitting into your career development plan. This can be included in your cover letter. Your CV, publication list, and contact information for three references will also be needed for application.
