I. University Profile

Jiangsu University is a key comprehensive university founded in August 2001 by merging the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers’ College with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Ranked early in 1978 by the State Council among the top 88 key universities in China, Jiangsu University became one of the first institutions of higher learning in China entitled to conferring a bachelor’s, a master’s and a doctor’s degree. Co-sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the University ranks among the first batch of Jiangsu High-level Universities under construction, holds the honorary title of National Outstanding University for Undergraduate Teaching, and ranks among the first batch of 50 Sample Universities in China for High Employment of Graduates, the first batch of National Sample Universities for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the first batch of Chinese Universities with Quality Accreditation for the Education of International Students, and the National Pilot Universities for “Three-Whole Education” Comprehensive Reform.

With a long-held tradition of “Supporting Agriculture by Industry”, Jiangsu University has pooled strengths to “Fortify and Boost Agriculture”, to cultivate talents with “Knowledge of and Love for Agriculture”, and to reinforce her advantages in agriculture disciplines. Jiangsu University is a vice-president member of China Association for the Promotion of International Cooperation in Agriculture, a standing director member of National Agricultural Machinery Equipment Innovation Center, and a vice president member of National Alliance for Integrated Development of Rural Industries. Jiangsu University ranks among Top 50 universities in China and among Top 2 in Jiangsu institutions of higher learning in the ARWU Rankings of the Global First-Class Disciplines with a total number of 15 disciplines, coming out 40th in 2020 Comprehensive China University Rankings. The comprehensive ESI ranking of the University shots to 737th globally and 47th in China’s mainland. For the first time the University enters Top 400 in 2020 ARWU Academic Ranking of the Global Universities, coming out 33th~49th in China’s mainland universities. The University ranks 51st in China’s mainland according to the University Rankings of the Times Higher Education.

We boast a high level of education with a number of high-level disciplines. Engineering, Materials Science, Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Biology and Biochemistry rank among the top 1% of ESI in the world, coming out 50th in the comprehensive rankings of China. We have 2 national key disciplines, 1 national key discipline (under cultivation), 10 advanced disciplines of Jiangsu colleges and universities, 7 Jiangsu key first-level disciplines under “the 13th Five-year Plan” and 2 Jiangsu key first-level disciplines under “the 13th Five-year Plan” (under cultivation). We offer 14 doctoral programs of the first-level discipline, 44 master’s programs of the first-level discipline, professional master’s programs of 20 categories and ME programs in 25 research fields. We house 13 centers for post-doctoral studies.

II. Qualifications

An outstanding PhD/postdoctoral research fellow (with priority to an applicant from Top 200 colleges & universities in the world), or an assistant professor (or the equivalent) or above in a renowned college or university.
