As a Senior Manager for Research Portfolio Management, you will be responsible for managing multiple Discovery teams through all stages of project life cycle. The scope of the role could encompass project management across multiple therapeutics areas, across the same or different indications.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for independently managing multiple Discovery Project Teams.
  • Work in partnership with project leader to ensure timely, efficient, and effective meetings, and to ensure adequate progress on research activities between meetings.
  • Collaborate with the discovery team and functional area heads to anticipate and identify project issues, which pose a challenge to achieving strategic goals.
  • Lead or co-ordinate team operations and communications. Provides clear and timely communication to project team.
  • Inform research leadership of critical new data and changes in strategy.
  • Organizes Project Management support for various functional areas on the Project, attends sub-team meetings; organizes ad hoc working groups.
  • Task management of employees is required.


Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience and a BS in science or; 6+ years of relevant experience and a MS or MBA; PhD in a scientific field. Experience should include participation in cross-functional project management activities. A scientific background is a MUST.
  • Relevant experience consists of work in a scientific field or equivalent experience in association with R&D project teams and/or in cross-functional project management activities.
  • Must have a strong understanding applications, principles, concepts, practices, and standards of pharmaceutical project management and must have strong scientific background.
  • Must have advanced knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office suite and other reporting and tracking tools.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills required. Prefer strong managerial skills in a matrixed team environment.
  • Work under minimal supervision, determine personal work plan, schedule tasks and activities.
  • Understand and communicate scientific and business elements associated with the therapeutics (areas) of the assigned projects.
  • Must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail.
