A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Anatomy on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Anatomy department chair. The Assistant Professor of Anatomy will develop and deliver anatomy curriculum to students from SOMA. They will provide basic science of anatomy and the clinically-relevant content of the anatomy curriculum, as a priority, to SOMA's medical students. A primary responsibility will be the focus on the development of technologically-dependent curricula using a variety of software to enhance the anatomy curricula by emphasizing clinically-relevant anatomy as a priority over the classical memorization of anatomical structures.

Target start date: January 4, 2021.

Major Job Duties:

1. Primarily develop curricula using a variety of technologies.
2. Deliver curricula to students.
3. Develop and deliver clinically-oriented curricula in the Virtual Anatomy Lab.
4. Participate in the on-going assessment of students (i.e., testing).
5. Work with other anatomy faculty to delivery and prepare content for the cadaver lab.
6. Assist lab technician, if requested, in the set-up and take-down of lab supplies before, and after, each lab session as required.
7. Participate in the school's requirements in scholarly activities, service, committee work, and research as required.

Skills/Requirements:

Terminal degree in Anatomy (PhD), or MD/DO with relevant anatomical experience/exposure. 

The successful applicant will possess a knowledge of human clinically-related anatomy. In addition, skills in content generation software (Adobe products: Captivate, Presenter, Photoshop, etc.) and Microsoft Office products. Typing speed of 60 wpm (minimum) is expected. Learning to use the existing school's virtual anatomy software is also required. Knowledge of assessment software, exam-item writing for high-stakes examinations. 

The applicant should have experience in the clinical use of anatomy as demonstrated by prior experience as an Anatomy instructor, Physical Therapist (DPT), Physician's Assistant, Surgeon, or Radiologist. Emphasis will be placed on the understanding and use of technology in the delivery of clinically-relevant anatomy education is preferred. 

Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; high emotional intelligence. The ability to work with colleagues in higher education and deliver curricular content to up to 160 students. 

Because this is a non-clinical position (no direct patient-care responsibilities), current state medical licensure is not required; however, if current medical licensure is in existence, at time of hire, maintaining licensure will be required and CME requirements, as designated by the appropriate state medical licensing board, to maintain said licensure will be required.
