The Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science (CES) at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the broadly defined areas of Environmental Science or Environmental Forensic Science, starting in Fall of 2021. Fields of interest include environmental chemistry, environmental toxicology, forensic toxicology, and environmental forensics.   Research areas include trace measurements, chemical fingerprinting, environmental pollution, environmental regulatory compliance, hazardous waste treatment, environmental toxicology, health & safety. This hire will support the NJIT 2025 strategic plan in environmental sustainability and the big data revolution. The hire will contribute to one or more environmental science programs, forensic science, Chemistry at undergraduate and MS/PhD levels, and contribute to the development of a graduate program in forensic science. 

CES (http://chemistry.njit.edu) at NJIT is in a dynamic growth phase, with six new hires in the last three years, recent renovations, and expansion of facilities. CES offers degree programs in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. NJIT is an R1 doctoral university, conveniently located in the New York metropolitan area with over 11,000 students. Competitive salary, startup funds, and laboratory space will be provided. PhD in environmental science, chemistry, forensic science, or closely related field is a requirement, and relevant postdoctoral research experience is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active, externally funded, nationally-competitive research program and demonstrate excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching, particularly in forensic, environmental, and chemistry-related courses.
