Research Group Leader Position in Mass Spectrometry

Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology, University of Edinburgh

The Wellcome Centre for Cell Biology (WCB) is a world-renowned research centre in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Located in the vibrant city of Edinburgh, the WCB’s mission is to make ground-breaking discoveries that bridge the knowledge gap between genotype and cellular phenotype in health and disease. The Centre has an outstanding track record in fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying nuclear organisation, genome packaging and transmission, chromatin states and their interplay with RNA biology. The WCB offers a diverse and inclusive environment that fosters interaction and collaboration. We are equipped with state-of-the art facilities and instrumentation for molecular and cellular biological research, including core support in microscopy, bioinformatics, proteomics and structural biology.

The WCB is seeking an outstanding scientist for an independent Research Group Leader position at Junior or Senior level, with an emphasis on the application of biological mass spectrometry, particularly in proteomics. Successful candidates will have an impressive track record and a compelling vision for independent research.

Research in the MS facility at WCB is supported by two core-funded research assistants and is equipped with an Orbitrap Fusion Lumos, Q Exactive, Orbitrap Elite and a newly-installed Orbitrap Exploris 480.

Most group leaders within the WCB are supported by independent research fellowships and successful candidates would be supported in seeking independent funding.
