The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the

world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for

undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

The primary purpose for the Program Manager include the planning, development, and implementation of the CPRIT Training Program.


• Update the CPRIT TRIUMPH web page quarterly for the program with any changes to the program, addition of new

post-docs, photos, appropriate department links, etc.

• Maintain a database of top graduate programs in US and abroad in life sciences including a contact individual that

manages data on recent current students and alumni.

• Generate and maintain a database of top cancer researchers (NAS members, NIS members, etc) with track record of


• Create recruitment process for TRIUMPH postdoctoral fellows including recruitment material, advertising strategy

and communications with CPRIT PI and co-PI.

B. Graduate Scholar

• Update CPRIT Graduate Scholar information on the MD Anderson internet site.

• Update the application form with input from CPRIT PI and co-PI.

• Advertise availability of annual graduate scholar fellowships via email to MD Anderson GSBS students 2 months

prior to due date.

• Serve as contact for submitted applications.

• Compile applications, generate excel spreadsheet list of the applicants.

• Place applications on MD Anderson Box for selection committee.

C. Summer Undergraduate

• Update CPRIT summer program information on the MD Anderson internet site.

• Prepare recruitment/marketing materials for mailing (e.g., brochures and posters) to career centers, biology and

chemistry departments at top ranked undergraduate institutions.

• Update the application form with input from KK and SW,

• Generate link on CPRIT summer program web site to the application package

• Compile applications, generate excel spreadsheet list of the applicants

• Place applications on MD Anderson Box for selection committee


• Ensure completion of appropriate MD Anderson onboarding/appointment paperwork for CPRIT TRIUMPH and

Graduate Scholars in collaboration with the trainees' MD Anderson department.

• Responsible for all aspects of the summer program appointment process

• Distribute housing and city information to prospective summer students; serve as a liaison for summer students.

Program Management

A. Data

• Maintain database of all trainees (TRIUMPH, Graduate Scholar, summer undergraduate) that includes publication,

meeting presentation, award, patent and grant/fellowship information.

• Maintain trainee tables (NIH style) for CPRIT mentoring faculty in the TRIUMPH and Graduate Scholar tracks.

• Maintain database of TRIUMPH milestones.

• Maintain database of CPRIT Graduate Scholar committee reports.

• Maintain specific database of CPRIT summer program student information.

• Generate and maintain an Endnote library containing all CPRIT trainee publication information (ensure publications

cite CPRIT grant support); include PMID or PMCID numbers.

B. Meetings, Journal Club and other CPRIT events

• Organize and attend monthly meetings with PI, co-PI and ERO financial support team. Keep minutes and distribute

to attendees within a week of the meeting

• Organize TRIUMPH meetings with mentoring faculty and PIs on a regular basis. Keep minutes and distribute to

attendees within a week of the meeting

• Organize TRIUMPH selection committee meetings to interview post-doc candidates

• Organize monthly CPRIT journal clubs.

• Organize CPRIT summer poster presentation.

• Organize CPRIT summer program event schedule.

• Organize other CPRIT events as needed (Shark Tank, Joint Baylor events, etc).

C. Travel

• Coordinate travel and reimbursements for CPRIT TRIUMPH and Graduate Scholars with MD Anderson departments.

D. Grant reporting and submission

• Assist with grant progress reports, including completion of publication, employment and patent information on CPRIT

grant management web site.

• Coordinate CPRIT financial reports with ERO financial team.

• Assist in preparation of new training grant submissions to other funding agencies and for renewal purposes through


: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's or a PhD degree.

: Five years of related program management experience.

May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.

Preferred: Previous experience working with grants and managing training programs.
