Clinical Nurse Opportunity on our Rehab/Neuro Unit

The Rehab/Neuro unit is a 29 bed unit and the unit cares for neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and in-patient rehab patients. The patient population is mostly adults ages 18 and older. Our unit focuses on acute care patients and Neuro Progressive Care patients who require more hands on monitoring the first 24 hours post-surgery. Quality and patient outcomes are at the heart of our practice, and the team actively participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit and hospital based committees, and local and national conferences.

Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical and oncology is a plus.

Shift will be 7 am - 7 pm and 26 out of 52 weekend shifts per year.

SALARY RANGE
Minimum: $65,000 Midpoint: $87,500 Maximum: $110,000

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Education:

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

Experience:

Required: None.

Preferred: 12 months of recent RN experience in Medical/Surgical and oncology is a plus.

Licensure/Certification:

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).

Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.

Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area.

Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. No experience required. All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Foreign trained nurses who have not practiced nursing as an RN in the United States for at least one year will also be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
