Assistant or Associate Professor of Microbiology

Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Microbiology faculty position in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology beginning August 2021.

Successful candidates will be expected to establish an extramurally-funded research program addressing an important problem in microbial biology. Research programs in our department are found at (https://csm.kennesaw.edu/mcb/index.php). Teaching assignments include undergraduate microbiology, and graduate courses that integrate microbiology with other disciplines. Applicants who will promote CSM’s commitment to inclusive excellence in STEM research and education are particularly welcome.

Advising and mentoring of undergraduates and graduate students is expected.

Participation in professional service within the Department, the College of Science and Mathematics, the University and beyond is expected.

Qualified applicants will have 1) an earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) in microbiology or a closely related discipline; 2) post-doctoral experience; 3) peer-reviewed publications (or accepted manuscripts); 4) a research proposal deemed likely to attract extramural funding. An applicant at the Associate Professor level must hold an extramural grant.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Success in obtaining extramural funding

• A record of teaching at the university level and/or mentoring undergraduates and graduate students

• Commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching, and research
