The Department of Dermatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine invites applications for a non-tenure-track Instructor position.

We are inviting applications from qualified candidates to work in the laboratory of Dr. Mohammad Athar. The position will be a non-tenure earning track, which will be offered through the Department of Dermatology, School of Medicine. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a related field and experience in genetic and epigenetic work both in cell culture, as well as, in animal model system for performing preclinical investigations and mechanism-based studies to validate new molecular targets and assays, along with tissue collection, sample analysis. The selected candidate will also be involved with data generation for the submission of grants and publications. Expertise in CHIPseq/ATACseq, eCLIP techniques are highly desirable. Finally, the successful candidate will assist in writing scientific manuscripts, grants, and reviews along with presenting outcome of research studies in scientific meetings. 

The Dermatology Research Section in the Department of Dermatology includes 7 faculty members with a diverse skill set and operational expertise encompassing several areas (skin inflammation, cancer immunology, biology, and vitamin D to name a few). Faculty are noted for multidisciplinary, academic productivity and national leadership.
