Junior Research Scientist
Department of Molecular Pathobiology
New York University College of Dentistry
The NYU College of Dentistry Department of Molecular Pathobiology is seeking a highly enthusiastic Junior Research Scientist to join the Microbiome group. The ideal candidate is an excellent experimentalist in cell culture and molecular biology with a strong background in microbiology that can investigate the mechanisms of host-microbiome interactions in mouth and gut. We are expanding experimental work to test hypotheses that that microbiome and its metabolites modulate host response (Cancer Discovery 2018, Nature 2019, iScience 2020). The successful candidate will conduct and run 16S or metagenomics sequencing of clinical samples. At NYU Dentistry, the microbiome team has extensive experience analyzing large metagenomic datasets with many variables along with clinical data. This is an exciting workplace where there is fast-paced science happening with amazing resources. We are seeking creative and highly motivated individuals who want to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment and gain experiences in both pre-clinical and clinical settings.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have:
- A BS/MS/Ph.D. in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or a related field.
- Excellent experimental and organization skills.
- Familiarity with basic techniques such as, PCR arrays, DNA extraction is preferred.
- Experience with microbiology is preferred.
- Ability to communicate scientific material and work well in a collaborative environment.
- Some experience in human microbiome or microbiology.
