Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Research

Description:
McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Research.

The candidate will work in the Division of Neurocritical Care and Trauma under the direction of Dr. H. Choi (neurocritical care) and Dr. Ryan Kitagawa (neurotrama/neurosurgery). The projects will focus on the mechanisms and consequences of acute brain injury in particular subarachnoid hemorrhage and traumatic brain injury with a translational research program. Laboratory space with support for basic science research including animal facilities is available, and a robust clinical research program including an experienced team of research assistants and coordinators is already present.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Contributing to a research program with a specific focus on brain injury.

2. Lead a team of research assistant, trainees and students at various levels.

3. Obtain independent funding.

4. Publish and present the results.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates should have a PhD in neuroscience or related field, with a basic science focus and a track record of productivity in the form of publications and awarded grants/fellowships.
