Job Description

The Single-Molecule Biophotonics Lab at New York University School of Medicine (http://www.rothenberglab.com/), headed by Prof. Eli Rothenberg, is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral scientists with strong background in advanced microscopy, optics and photonics, instrument design, and interests in developing innovative optical nanoscopy methods for biomedical research.

Research projects involve the development of new cutting-edge single-molecule fluorescence microscopy techniques and their utilization for studying human mechanisms relevant to diverse human diseases and syndromes, including: cancer, chemotherapy and radiotherapy sensitivity and resistance, cellular development and aging, and immunity and immune-deficiencies.

Ongoing biomedical research in our laboratory focuses on application of new single-molecule tools for elucidating diverse molecular mechanisms involved in the maintenance of genetic information and chromosomal-genomic integrity in human cells, including: mammalian DNA repair and DNA damage response, their dysfunction in human disease and cancer, and their utilization as targets for therapeutic intervention, with an emphasis on cellular stress response and pharmacological mechanisms of action.

Requirements

We seek qualified and highly self-motivated applicants with solid training and proven experience in experimental techniques and optical instrumentations, with knowledge in optics, photonics, and fluency in programming languages and data analysis.

Applicants must have a proven experience in designing of optical instrumentations and coding for hardware-computer interface and automation.

Applicant would hold a PhD in Physics, Engineering, or related disciplines (Biological Physics, Biophysical Chemistry, Photonics, Optics, etc) and have a peer-reviewed publication record.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment is essential. Excellence in regular, proactive communication and problem solving as part of a team, strong record keeping, a great work ethic, and initiative are also essential.

Candidates with experience in using single-molecule approaches (single-molecule tracking, multi-color super-resolution microscopy and single-molecule FRET), advanced fluorescence microscopies and related approaches, are encouraged to apply.

Interested applicants should submit a detailed CV, statement of research interests, and have three reference letters sent to:
