The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Takahashi, invites applications at the Assistant Professor level for a tenure-track Faculty position in neuroscience with an emphasis on mechanistic understanding of nervous system function. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field. We seek outstanding scientists addressing molecular, biochemical and genetic mechanisms underlying brain function, as well as those individuals using high-resolution imaging, behavior, and neural circuit methodology. Diversity and inclusion is a priority at the University of Texas Southwestern and in the Department of Neuroscience at all levels including faculty, staff, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Scientists within the Department of Neuroscience participate in a vibrant, interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and highly collaborative research community within the University, and enjoy access to state-of-art research cores including imaging, metabolic phenotyping, behavioral phenotyping, protein chemistry, structural biology, cryo-electron microscopy, genomics, genetics and transgenic technology.  The Department of Neuroscience is a core component of the newly formed Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute at UT Southwestern.
