Cancer Immunology Postdoctoral Fellow

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Boston, MA

The Rashidian lab is focused on understanding the underlying mechanisms of how the tumor microenvironment is shaped and is changed in response to cancer immunotherapies. Furthermore, the lab aims to develop new and improved diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic tools to detect, diagnose, treat, and prevent cancer. The lab is currently seeking to hire a highly motivated individual nearing completion of his/her Ph.D., or interested in having a second postdoc, and available to start in the fall of 2020 or early 2021. Prospective candidates with the following skillsets are encouraged to apply: immunology, and cancer biology. The postdoc will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with a diverse group of scientists including immunologists, biochemists, chemists, and physicians. The compensation will be competitive while also affording opportunities to be a co-author on several basic science and translational manuscripts. The scientist will be appointed as a "Research Fellow" at Harvard Medical School as well.

The lab’s research interests lie in understanding how the immune system responds to cancer and cancer treatment, the possibility to reshape the tumor microenvironment to a more anti-tumor status, and to develop the requisite tools to make this possible. In the long term, our goal is to help better understand why some patients respond to therapy and why some don’t, to help understand what results in an immunosuppressive or an anti-tumor tumor microenvironment, and to develop more effective therapies and new prognostic modalities for early assessment of the response to treatment. In this effort, the lab bridges knowledge of chemical biology and cancer immunology, a unique combination.

You can visit the lab website at https://rashidianlab.dana-farber.org/

Trainees will have access to state-of-the-art instrumentation throughout the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School, as well as resources available through collaborations at the Boston area including MIT and the Whitehead Institute.
