Scripps Research is conducting faculty search for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to be located on the La Jolla, CA campus.  The area of research is open but should fit within the broad scope of research in chemical and biological sciences at Scripps.  Two additional searches are being undertaken in the specific disciplines of Chemistry and Neuroscience.  For the present search, broad areas of emphasis include structural biology, immunology, and molecular medicine.

Scripps Research— one of the world's largest, private, non-profit research organizations — is at the forefront of basic biomedical science, with faculty undertaking chemistry, biology, and medical research that seeks to comprehend the most fundamental processes of life. Over the last decades, the institute has established its core strengths in biomedical research at the interfaces between chemical and biological sciences.  Scripps Research is organized into two campuses, one in La Jolla, California, and one in Jupiter, Florida.  Scripps recently formed a strategic alliance with Calibr, a not-for-profit drug discovery institute, providing a link between the basic research of Scripps and the translational research of Calibr.  Scripps has a vibrant Ph.D. program that is ranked in the top 10 in Chemical and Biological Sciences.  Scripps has a collegial and collaborative environment, where faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows can freely interact across campuses and disciplines to form synergy in emerging areas of research.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent in a relevant discipline, and an outstanding record of research that demonstrates originality in addressing significant questions. Successful candidates will be expected to establish an active research group, be an interactive member of the faculty, and participate in interdisciplinary research and training.

A diverse Search Committee with representatives across disciplines will review the applications.  Applicants will be selected for interviews on a specific campus as early as November 2020 and positions will remain open until filled, or May 2021. Anticipated start date will be Fall 2021.
