Position Summary:         

The Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh invites applications for an Assistant Professor position beginning September 2021. This tenure-track faculty position will be split between Biology and Medical Technology and will involve teaching courses in Medical Bacteriology and Medical Mycology for Medical Technology, and undergraduate and graduate courses in Biology as assigned. The incumbent will pursue a research program, perform scholarship and service, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in department governance.

Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (Medical Bacteriology and Medical Mycology for the Medical Technology Program) and other Microbiology or Public Health courses as assigned; advise undergraduate and graduate students; develop an active research program and seek funding; participate in service activities and departmental governance.

Qualifications    

Required:           

1. Ph.D. in Microbiology or terminal degree in closely related field. ABDs with a reasonable likelihood of degree completion by start date may also apply.

2. Ability and knowledge necessary to teach courses in medical bacteriology, medical mycology, and microbiology.

3. Strong background in medical microbiology through a combination of coursework and experience.

Preferred:          

1. Post-doctoral research experience and teaching experience at the university level.

2. Background in public health desirable.
