Specialist – Okada Lab
The assistant/associate/full specialist in this position is expected to conduct IND (investigational new drug)-enabling studies for our clinical trial of cancer immunotherapy for patients with glioma. Hence, the studies to be conducted include: 1) designing and cloning of novel lentiviral chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) vector; 2) transduction of human T lymphocytes with lentiviral CAR; 3) evaluation of anti-glioma immune responses by the CAR-transduced T lymphocytes using a variety of immunological assays, such as cytotoxicity assays, cytokine release assays and flow-cytometry; and 3) in vivo studies using immunodeficient mice bearing human glioma xenografts and infusion of CAR-transduced T lymphocytes.
Sufficient expertise and knowledge in relevant systems; i.e. DNA cloning, culture of T lymphocytes, immunological assays and handling of mouse models is required. Post-graduate training in field is desirable. Specialists appointed at the Assistant or Associate rank must possess at minimum a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or must have at least five years of research experience. Specialists appointed at the full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or must have at least ten or more years of research experience.
