The Department of Pulmonary Immunology at UTHSCT invites applications from outstanding scientists for a state-funded faculty position to conduct independent research. Investigators working on host pathogen interactions, inflammation and repair, cellular and molecular mechanisms of bacterial and viral pathogenesis and immune responses to tumors are encouraged to apply. The mission of the basic and clinical research at UTHSCT is to create a strong research community which links basic science and clinical science. The UTHSCT has an established research program in lung injury/repair, cell and molecular biology and pulmonary infectious diseases and the successful candidate is encouraged to interact with existing researchers.  For associate and senior level positions, a strong track record and current extramural funding are required. Teaching in the biotechnology graduate program is encouraged.

Our institution is growing rapidly and substantive resources are allocated to build its basic and translational research portfolio.  Outstanding BSL3 and ABSL3 facilities are available. The Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology has recently set up state-of-the-art cellular and molecular imaging facility, including a custom made single molecule total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscope, ultrafast super-resolution microscope which can visualize dynamic movement of the molecules in living cell, and Leica SP8 confocal microscope with white light laser system.  Applicants should submit their CV, a statement of future research plans and the names of three references to Dr. Krishna Vankayalapati, Chair, Department of Pulmonary Immunology, University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, 11937 US Highway 271, Tyler, TX 75708-3154.
