Tenure Faculty Track Position in Quantitative Biology
The Department of Biological Sciences is seeking a tenure-track faculty candidate in the area of Quantitative Biology. The successful candidate may be using experimental, computational and/or theoretical approaches to investigate fundamental or applied questions of importance in any area of Biology. Areas of interest include but are not limited to, genomics, microbial systems, synthetic biology, molecular, cell, developmental biology, and neuroscience.
Carnegie Mellon is highly interdisciplinary and strongly invested in quantitative sciences, including high throughput data analyses, genomics, imaging informatics, biophysics, laboratory automation and automated science, and tissue engineering. We especially seek applicants whose research disciplines may cross traditional boundaries and who can leverage strengths in computer science, engineering, and robotics.
Faculty have access to facilities that include a state-of-the-art animal facility, imaging and biological microscopy centers, high-performance computing clusters, and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. Carnegie Mellon is developing extensive biological experimental automation suites and candidates are encouraged to describe how their experimental design may benefit from this resource. Highly competitive salaries and start-up packages are offered.
A Ph.D. or M.D. degree along with postdoctoral research experience is required. The tenure-track appointment will be made at the assistant professor level.
