Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Neuroimaging

The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at the Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) in St Louis invites applications from outstanding Ph.D., D.Sc. and/or M.D. candidates for tenure-track faculty position at all levels in the Neuroimaging Laboratories (NIL). The NIL provides an interactive environment for a group of over 30 resident faculty and over 100 students, postdocs and staff. Housed within the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, these investigators come from multiple backgrounds and collaborate with investigators across both WU campuses. Major areas of interest include brain development, neural plasticity, and neurodegeneration. We require a systems neuroscience orientation and are looking for expertise within and across multiple imaging modalities.

NIL investigators perform ground-breaking work in human cognitive and clinical neuroscience, human aging and neurodevelopment, human systems neuroscience, human neuropathophysiology, basic human brain physiology, and animal models of neurological disorders using neuroimaging techniques and analyses. Studies employ PET, MRI, TMS, Diffuse Optical Tomography and EEG in conjunction with detailed behavioral analyses to understand the human and animal brain in health and disease.

The NIL has provided valuable support of many kinds for other large scale initiatives including the Human Connectome Project and Alzheimer Disease Research Center. The NIL provides a physical and intellectual environment that promotes collaborative, innovative and interdisciplinary neuroimaging research and supports the career development of students and junior faculty.

Basic Qualifications  

For each position, rank and tenure status will be commensurate with experience. It is expected that the applicants will have a strong track record of publications and success in external funding through grants and contracts. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a multi-disciplinary, rigorous and extramurally funded research program interfacing with the MIR’s research labs, translational imaging facilities and WUSM.
