Postdoctoral Ad:

The Carpenter laboratory has an exciting opportunity for a Ph.D. level postdoctoral scientist. The overall goal of the lab is to determine the role that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play in controlling inflammation. We use a unique and powerful combination of molecular, genomic and genetic approaches to understand the role of lncRNAs in the innate immune system. Being at the home of UCSC Genome Browser and the UCSC RNA Center, the laboratory has access to cutting edge high-throughput sequencing technology and expertise in genomics and RNA biology. More information about UCSC and the Carpenter laboratory can be found here: https://sites.google.com/a/ucsc.edu/carpenter-lab/.

Applicants with a prior experience or interest in Immunology and RNA biology, are strongly encouraged to apply. The postdoctoral candidate will have an opportunity to learn a multitude of techniques ranging from RNA sequencing, high throughput gene editing by CRISPR-Cas9 and the generation of mouse models for in vivo interrogation of function. A successful candidate will have strong background in molecular biology and solid understanding of innate immunity.

Experience in bioinformatic analysis of high-throughput data is desired but not required. Other qualifications include a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in relevant field and a strong track record of peer reviewed publications (or currently under review/BioRxiv). Qualified candidates with interest in this training opportunity should send a curriculum vitae and contact information of three references to Susan Carpenter (sucarpen@ucsc.edu).
