Tenure-track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (3 posts) in Artificial Intelligence in the Research Division for Mathematical and Statistical Science (Ref.: 502068)

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (3 posts) in Artificial Intelligence in the Research Division for Mathematical and Statistical Science (Ref.: 502068), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Direct tenure may be offered to outstanding Associate Professor candidates.

The Research Division for Mathematical and Statistical Science is one of the six Research Divisions in the Faculty of Science. It covers pure and applied mathematics, statistics and actuarial science. It has strengths in geometry, number theory, optimisation theory, scientific computing, stochastic analysis and biostatistics with key expertise in data science, actuarial science, time series, survival analysis, complex geometry, analytic number theory, optimisation and scientific computing.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics/Statistics/Data Science/Computational Science, or a related discipline. For post 1, they should be able to demonstrate excellence in research in Computational and Mathematical Methods in Artificial Intelligence. For post 2 and 3, they should be able to demonstrate excellence in research in Statistical Methods and Machine Learning in Artificial Intelligence. Teaching duties will be assigned by the relevant Head of Department with a reduced teaching load in the first two years of appointment. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable. A start-up package that is commensurate with the needs and experience of the appointee will be provided.
