Job Responsibilities

Independently, performs and assists in both in vitro and in vivo animal experiments investigating tumor cell (e.g. prostate) invasion, growth, resistance niches in response to clinical relevant therapeutic strategies (e.g. Rad223) in orthotopic and model niches (e.g. engineered bone and fibrotic); monitors tumor response using immunofluorescence, confocal, and multiphoton microscopies and preclinical imaging techniques; generates reporter cell lines and performs 3D in vitro experiments to validate and guide in vivo, preclinical animal experiments; has biology background and expertise in imaging analysis with some application of molecular biology and protein biochemistry of cells and tissue samples.

Knowledge in the following procedures are required:

Intermediate immunofluorescence, confocal, epifluorescence microscopy and image analysis (Fiji/ImageJ or other) skills

Multiphoton microscopy for immunofluorescence and in vivo imaging in skin and mammary window models, and in other organs, as applicable

Cell/tissue culture of primary cells (e.g. stem cells) and cancer cell lines, 3D cultures and polymer scaffolds for tissue engineered tumor models (e.g. engineered bone and other)

Advanced tissue clearing and staining techniques for hard and soft tissues (e.g. skin and bone)

Preclinical imaging (e.g. microCT, X-Ray, IVIS, Optical whole-body imaging)

Molecular biology (vector cloning, DNA/RNA purification, transfections, lentivirus production, lentiviral transductions)

Generation of modified/reporter cell lines and cryostorage

Histological procedures (Fixation, Slicing, Staining, Sample storage)

Optional: Microfabrication of polymeric fibers and application for in vitro cell culture

Optional: Flow cytometry (FACS) and analysis

Acquire and develop new techniques:

· Must possess flexibility and have the ability to learn and establish novel techniques and protocols for new research lines.

· Independently reads and understands scientific literature for application to ongoing research.
