The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a full-time teaching faculty position. This position is a renewable, long-term, non-tenure track appointment. Preference will be given to candidates having a Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry and a track record of teaching and working with teaching assistants at the college/university level. Demonstrated teaching excellence (i.e., prior teaching experience and use of evidence-based practices) is expected. We especially seek candidates who have experience in educating students from a variety of backgrounds for success in STEM. Successful candidates will be expected to assume leadership roles in the department’s undergraduate program, which is nationally recognized for teaching excellence.

Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the Department’s first-year general chemistry lecture course, curriculum development, and potentially other areas within the applicant’s expertise. Depending upon the extent of past experience, this teaching faculty position will carry the title of Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor. Candidates should upload a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy that includes a portfolio of prior independent teaching experience, and three letters of recommendation to https://apply.interfolio.com/78780. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis upon receipt but should be received by November 15, 2020 to receive full consideration. The start date is anticipated to be July 1, 2021.

The University of Notre Dame seeks to attract, develop, and retain the highest quality faculty, staff, and administration. The University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to building a culturally diverse workplace. We strongly encourage applications from female and minority candidates, veterans and individuals with disabilities, and others that will enhance our community, including those candidates attracted to a university with a Catholic identity.
