Job Details

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Develops and manages computerized databases appropriate to the design of various research studies. Maps data elements across different databases. Validates and assures data is captured accurately. Works with faculty and research team to designs and maintains management reports on the databases for various research studies. Performs and assists in the entry of research data into computerized databases. Assists with descriptive and exploratory statistical analyses. Provides trainings to data coordinator through the department on data capture project. Key Functions
  1. Develops and manages computerized databases appropriate to the design of various research studies.
  2. Maps data between different databases. Validates and assures data is captured accurately.
  3. Consults with departmental personnel for problem definition and management requirements. Analyzes source documents, data base structure and management report requirements. Coordinates systems improvements between Information Systems and user departments and provides necessary documentation and consultation for implementation of system.
  4. Participates in various scientific research projects to transform the approach to cancer therapy through research, integrating germ line, molecular, and genetic information with disease-specific biology to bring personalized cancer therapy to the clinic.
  5. Designs simple to complex queries using structure query language. Systems will need to be developed to permit significant flexibility in the types of queries performed. Queries will need to be performed related to disease site parameters of molecular and clinical outcomes, across disease site parameters comparing and contrasting, identifying trends in molecular data and in finance data. Additionally, as tests evolve integration of multiple types of molecular data and the ability to perform cross-platform queries.
  6. Assists in problem solving and formulation and testing of hypotheses and complex analysis of data. The data to be integrated is completely novel and will need significant tests to be performed to determine the appropriate system to access, query, and compare cross-platform data.
  7. Assists ICT database team in daily operation of several information technology projects to support ICT department and CCTT clinic
  8. Providing information technology education and training to ICT faculty and staff.


Education
Required: Bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science, Statistics or related field.

Experience

Required: Five years of experience in database design and management. With preferred degree, three years of experience is required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Three years of experience in clinical trial phase ½ and electronic data capture (EDC) databases. Two years of experience with electronic medical record systems such as Epic. Familiar with electronic data capture system (EDC) such as RedCap, Rave, Inform. Two years of experience with clinical trials is a plus.
