The Assistant Managing Editor is responsible for the day-to-day management of ACS Earth and Space Chemistry, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, and Chemical Research in Toxicology, ensuring that the publications are produced on time, on budget, and with appropriate levels of quality. This portfolio of journals are particularly focused on addressing challenges and questions relevant to materials and processes that occur naturally on Earth and in space, sustainability, advancing principles of green chemistry and green engineering, and providing knowledge and innovative approaches to promote intelligent solutions for human safety and ecosystem preservation, all while emphasizing chemistry, engineering, and chemical research tools as the unifying theme. The qualified candidate will work with Editors and ACS staff to develop and implement publishing strategies and editorial initiatives to sustain and enhance the journals’ standing within the global chemistry community to ensure their continued growth and success. The Assistant Managing Editor will collaborate with the Editors in planning, recruiting commissioned content, and monitor progress of the journal against competitors. The qualified candidate will also work with ACS staff from Global Production Operations; Global Editorial Operations; Digital Strategy and Publishing Platforms; and Marketing, Sales and New Product Innovation to implement strategic initiatives for the journals. The Assistant Managing Editor may be required to represent the journals within the scientific community through laboratory visits and conferences, both domestic and international. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Managing Editor, Global Journals Development.
