The Department of Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University invites applications for an Instructor with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2021. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty position under the supervision of the department head. Responsibilities will include teaching introductory level courses in Biological Sciences (BIO) for both majors and non-majors (including our non-majors organismal based course, Plants and Humans) as well as upper level courses as best fit applicant interest and department need. Assignments may also include lab sections, performing preparatory functions for them, and coordinating and supervising teaching assistants associated with those courses. Teaching courses for extra compensation may be available during summer session and as part of distance education. Minimum qualifications: M.S. degree in a biological sciences field amenable to the instruction of BIO courses; demonstrated instructional experience at the university or community-college level; excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and computer skills. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, a minimum of one-year instructional experience, and experience coordinating teaching laboratories.
