Position Summary
Our group in the Immuno-Oncology Department in the Beckman Research Institute at the City of Hope is interested in developing prophylactic and therapeutic strategic against oncogenic herpesviruses and their associated malignancies, with the ultimate goal of translating these strategies into the clinic. We are currently preparing to explore T-cell based therapeutics for the treatment of herpesvirus-associated cancers. The successful candidate will participate in laboratory research by performing T-cell culture experiments, which involve managing mouse experiments, isolating mouse splenocytes and separating and culturing human PBMCs, and performing T-cell activation assays and subsequent flow cytometric analysis.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Mouse handling (injections, collection of blood and tissues)
  • Cell culture maintenance and assays involving mouse and human primary T cells (mouse splenocytes, human PBMCs)
  • Accurate record/data keeping for a good laboratory practice standard to support IND application.


Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Ph.D. in immunology, virology or related disciplines
  • Meticulous record keeping, impeccable organization and proficiency with databases
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated, and work well independently and in a team
  • Hands-on experience in various dosing routes to mice and collecting blood and tissues, as well as processing samples for ex vivo analysis
  • Extensive hands-on experience in primary T-cell culture and assays (mouse and human)
  • Experience in imaging, flow cytometry and translational science
  • Background in herpesviruses, cancer therapeutics is a plus.
