Early Independence Investigator Position

The Department of Plant Biology is seeking applications for the position of Staff Associate. The Staff Associate is a five-year position (equivalent level to Assistant Professor) intended to support exceptional scientists to start independent research programs at early career stages, ideally within one year after getting their Ph.D. degree. We are broadly interested in early career scientists who show great potential for developing a rigorous and creative research program that studies molecular genetic mechanisms in any photosynthetic organisms ranging from photosynthetic microbes to higher plants. The successful candidate is expected to lead an independent research group and interact synergistically with current department faculty members. Current research programs of the department study broad biological questions (related to metabolism, growth, development, and environmental adaptation) using a wide variety of systems (cyanobacteria, unicellular algae, Arabidopsis, maize, and native plants) and research approaches (biochemical, genetic, genomic, proteomic, cellular microscopy, and computational).
