Physicist

The Time and Frequency Division in the Physical Measurement Laboratory of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) anticipates the need for a physical scientist in the area of primary frequency standards (https://www.nist.gov/pml/time-and-frequency-division). The division is located on the Boulder campus of NIST.

The position requires a degree in physics or a related discipline.  Expertise in the physics of atomic clocks, laser manipulation of atoms, digital & rf electronics, interaction of radiation with atoms, high-resolution spectroscopy, mechanical design, vacuum systems, control and feedback systems, fundamental metrology, accurate frequency and time measurements, the design and operation of primary frequency standards, and the reporting of frequency standard evaluations is required. A strong publication record is desired.
