TWELVE POSITIONS AVAILABLE AT THE SARS-FANG CENTRE IN QINGDAO, CHINA (A COLLABORATION OF THE OCEAN UNIVERSITY OF CHINA WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF BERGEN)
The Ocean University of China (OUC) is a comprehensive university with particular strengths in oceanography and fisheries science and related basic research. OUC has four campus in Qingdao with 18 Colleges, over 25,800 students and 3,300 faculty members. The university is proud to be the cradle of China’s marine professionals and it counts a large number of China’s marine science specialists among its alumni. It has established cooperative relations with over 240 universities and research institutes in more than 37 countries and regions. By 2025, OUC will be further developed into a top-level comprehensive research university with a strong emphasis on marine sciences. The University is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to equality, ethics, inclusivity, diversity and transparency.
The Sars-Fang Centre, established in 2020, belongs to OUC and will perform basic research in evolutionary and developmental biology, using advanced methods of molecular /cell /computational biology and a variety of model organisms, including marine species. These will allow in-depth functional studies of biological processes. The Sars-Fang Centre is located in Qingdao and its establishment phase is co-financed by the University of Bergen (Norway). It is planned as a sister institute of the Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology (www.uib.no/en/sarssenteret) in Norway which is a partner of E.M.B.L. (European Molecular Biology Laboratory) since 2003.
The Sars-Fang Centre is recruiting for three of its research groups 5 postdocs, 5 lab technicians and 2 animal facility technicians. We invite highly motivated, committed and talented outstanding candidates to join Sars-Fang in Qingdao, China. The successful candidates will join a vibrant scientific environment devoted to basic life science research.
There are currently four vacancies for postdoctoral position on the following projects:
- Postdoctoral position 1 in Shi WANG’s group: Genome and Developmental Evolution of Marine Shellfish
- Postdoctoral position 2 in Bo DONG’s group: The roles of cytoskeleton and extracellular matrix on ascidian notochord tubulogenesis and tail regression.
- Postdoctoral position 3 in Chengtian ZHAO’s group: the establishment of marine model organisms and their development and evolutionary mechanisms
- Postdoctoral position 4 in Wei Wang’s group: Heart development mechanisms
- Postdoctoral position 5 in Daniel CHOURROUT’s group: Tunicate Genome variation along the China Coast
- Laboratory technician position 6 in Shi WANG’s group (Genetics/Genomics of Molluscs)
- Laboratory technician position 7 in Bo DONG’s group (Ascidian Notochord Development and Metamorphosis)
- Laboratory technician position 8 in Chengtian ZHAO’s group (Trichoplax development)
- Laboratory technician position 9 in Wei WANG’s group (Ascidian Heart Development)
