The USC Department of Radiology is seeking an outstanding synthetic organic chemist to be part of our multidisciplinary research program emphasizing in preparing novel compounds for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry and expertise in (i) multistep synthesis, and (ii) transformation of a wide range of functional groups. The candidate is expected to learn and perform new 18F-fluorination chemistry. The post-doctoral candidate should also have an extensive knowledge in standard organic chemistry characterization techniques such as NMR (1H, 13C, 19F), HPLC, GC, mass spectrometry, UV spectroscopy as well as standard analytical techniques. Furthermore, successful candidates must have excellent communication and organization skills, the ability to multi-task and work in a collaborative environment.
