Postdoctoral Scientist position is available at the laboratories of Dr. Noble and Dr. Jiang at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to investigate mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis. The projects in the lab include the role of alveolar progenitors, extracellular matrix, resident mesenchymal cells, and fibroblast lineages in lung injury and repair (please see J Exp Med. 2011; 208:1459; Sci Transl Med. 2011;3:74ra23; J Exp Med. 2015; 212:235, J Clin Invest. 2016; 126:3063; Nat Med 2016; 22:1285; Cell Rep 2018; 22:3625; JCI Insight 2019; 4(6); and bioRxiv doi.org/10.1101/2020.07.15.203141). Experimental approaches employed in our lab include molecular biology, genetically modified mice, lineage tracing, lung injury models, prospective isolation and organoid culture of lung stem cells, single cell RNA-seq, immunology, and genomics studies.
The candidates are expected to carry out the projects independently with minimal supervision, including designing experiments, formulating new ideas related to the projects, executing experiments proficiently and timely, and analyzing data professionally. The scientists are expected to handle multiple projects, to write scientific papers and reviews, and to present work in scientific conferences. The scientists are expected to supervise students and technicians including assay development, problem solving, interpreting results and planning follow-up experiments.
A recent PhD or MD/PhD in molecular biology, development biology, medicine, or immunology is required. The successful candidates are expected to have hands-on experience in genetically modified mice, mouse models, molecular immunology, and transcriptome analysis. Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals is required. The candidates are highly motivated, collaborative, and hard working.
Interested candidates should send their CV, research interests, and three references to Dr. Dianhua Jiang at Dianhua.jiang@cshs.org.
