Position Summary

A position is available for a motivated and creative person to work on a project concerned with, but not limited to, using advanced light microscope imaging techniques to understand and surmount barriers limiting application of CAR T cell immunotherapy to glioblastoma and other primary and metastatic brain tumors (Akhavan et al., "CAR T cells for brain tumors: Lessons learned and road ahead" Immunol Rev. 2019). These challenges include the immunosuppressive microenvironment, T cell persistence and exhaustion, and tumor antigen escape.

The position involves designing and executing immunochemical studies incorporating multiplexed techniques including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and imaging mass cytometry, coupled with analyses using high dimensional imaging software such as Visiopharm, to probe an existing and expanding library of annotated patient tumors.

The successful applicant will work independently in collaboration with two PIs with a long history of collaboration (Drs. Michael Barish and Christine Brown) along with the diverse and talented members of their laboratory teams. Required is a doctoral-level degree (PhD or MD) in immunology, tumor biology, or other relevant area, along with experience in microscopy and quantitative image analyses. An important criterion will be the demonstrated ability to critically interpret experimental results, and present data in a cogent and meaningful manner.

Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • A Ph.D. degree in life or immunology, tumor biology, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline is required.
Additional Information:
  • Please send current CV and one or two significant publications to Michael Barish, PhD at mbarish@coh.org for consideration.
  • Title and compensation will be at a level commensurate with experience.
