Position Summary. 
The Department of Biology at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin Fall 2021.  We seek individuals who have a genuine interest in teaching within the liberal arts environment and conducting research that involves undergraduates.  The successful candidate will teach Cell Biology for majors, Introductory Biology for majors and/or non-majors, and upper division courses in area of specialization (e.g., Bioinformatics, Immunology, Microbiology, Plant Physiology).  

Responsibilities include teaching five courses per year (where either a lecture or laboratory section is considered to be one course), maintaining an active research agenda, advising undergraduate students, and participating in governance at the departmental and College levels: https://www.gettysburg.edu/academic-programs/biology/

Qualifications. 

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Cell Biology or a related field.   Teaching experience, or promise of excellence in teaching, as well as post-doctoral research experience, are preferred.  We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their teaching, scholarship, or governance that they can contribute to the diversity and inclusivity of our community.
