Faculty Position in Experimental Quantum Engineering for Computing, Precision Measurements, or Sensing at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

The School of Basic Sciences at EPFL seeks to appoint a Professor in Experimental Quantum Engineering for Computing, Precision Measurements, or Sensing. The search is open rank and a strong link with the School of Engineering is desired.

We primarily target scientific excellence by searching broadly the area. Preference will be given to applicants who can produce innovative ideas in the areas that include engineered solid-state implementations of quantum devices for quantum computing, sensing, or communication, as well as in laboratory-based precision measurements, which aims to contribute to fundamental Physics, Metrology or Chemistry.

Particular emphasis are areas which are at the interface of Physics and Engineering, and which aim at applying and developing devices that are capable of operating in realistic environments for applications in other fields.

Candidates should have an excellent record of scientific accomplishments. In addition, commitment to teaching at the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels is expected. Proficiency in French is not required, but a willingness to learn the language is appreciated.

EPFL, with its main campus located in Lausanne, Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva, is a dynamically growing and well-funded institution fostering excellence and diversity. It has a highly international campus with world-class infrastructure, including high performance computing.

EPFL covers the entire spectrum of science and engineering, offering a fertile environment for research and cooperation between different disciplines. The EPFL environment is multi-lingual and multi-cultural, with English serving as a common interface.

Applications should include a cover letter, a CV with a list of publications, a concise statement of research (3 pages) and teaching interests (1 page), and the contact information of at least three references for a junior position or five references for a senior position.
