The successful candidate will investigate the role of specific subsets of white blood cells, e.g. macrophages and microglia, in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases, and Alzheimer's disease. The major goal of these studies is to molecularly define how integrin receptors on specific leukocyte subsets initiate intracellular signaling events and thereby regulate their proinflammatory or anti-inflammatory processes in the setting of health and diseases. The post-doc will need to perform experiments involving biochemistry, molecular/cell biology, immunology, and murine models of human diseases.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in life science or M.D., and are highly motivated, good team players, and have critical thinking abilities and proficient English skills. Prior experience in at least some of these methodologies, such as recombinant DNA technology, flow cytometry, imaging, immunohistochemistry, or transcriptomics/bioinformatics is preferred.
If interested, please email a CV, a short statement of research interests, and the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Li Zhang at Email: lizhang@som.umaryland.edu
