The UAB School of Medicine, Department of Medicine is currently recruiting faculty candidates to be considered for a tenure or non-tenure track faculty appointment in the Division of Infectious Diseases. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on qualifications. Salary and start-up package are negotiable. Positions are available for both PhDs and Board eligible MDs.

The Department of Medicine, and the Division of Infectious Diseases are leaders in medical research and NIH funding. Interdisciplinary collaborations between basic and clinical faculty is a strong suit of UAB. We offer a well-developed infrastructure for cross-cutting research in inflammation, infection, and immunity.

We are looking to fill a faculty position to join this renowned Division. Candidates with a variety of skill sets and outstanding track-record of accomplishments in infectious diseases and sustained extramural funding preferred to complement ongoing investigative work or to develop new areas of emphasis are sought. Priority will be given to those with expertise in infections in immunocompromised hosts (including transplant recipients), global health and travel/tropical medicine, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, and bench research in diverse topics including HIV, the human microbiome and its role in susceptibility to infectious diseases, bacterial pathogenesis, and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold an M.D., PhD or M.D. /Ph.D. and will be an outstanding leader and highly skilled, widely recognized in the field with a strong track record in infectious diseases. Candidate should have substantial professional work experience in one or more areas of research, teaching and/or service.
