RIKEN invites applications for the position of laboratory head (indefinite-term employment position) to serve in a leadership position in the following research area. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing research projects from a medium- to long-term perspective.

Research area: Integrated Data Analysis

The successful candidate will lead a new research laboratory that promotes the integrated analysis of research data in the life sciences, which are becoming increasingly large, diverse, and complex; the laboratory will lead the advancement of life sciences by data-driven science methodologies. We are looking for an individual who will lead the world’s most advanced research in data-driven science, including knowledge extraction and designing experiments, based on statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence technologies, using the integrated database of RIKEN’s life sciences and open data. The integrated database is being developed by the RIKEN Open Life Science Platform. It is also expected that she/he will contribute to the advancement of a wide range of research fields, not limited to life sciences, but extended to physics, chemistry and beyond.

RIKEN considers data-driven science to be one of the core research areas that will drive the future of science and is currently building a research system that will strongly promote data-driven science. In this call, we are looking for an individual who will play a central role in this data-driven science research system for data analysis research..
