The Division of Brain Tumor Research within the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is recruiting for a JUNIOR FACULTY member. We seek an exceptional and creative scientist to lead an innovative laboratory-based research program using cutting-edge approaches to elucidate mechanisms relevant to neural development and tumorigenesis. Areas of interest include mechanisms of neural cell fate specification and differentiation, connections between epigenetic regulation, neural development and cancer, signaling pathways driving disease pathogenesis in pediatric brain tumors, and developmental and cellular origins of brain tumors. Early career investigators interested in contributing to a culture of excellence at St. Jude are particularly encouraged to apply. This search is also open for mid-career investigators with a strong record of independent research.

The research environment at St. Jude is highly interactive with collaborative opportunities across all basic research and clinical departments, and access to state-of-the-art institutional shared resources managed by Ph.D. level scientists. Division of Brain Tumor Research investigators have access to specialized departmental shared resources that include an integrated support structure for preclinical modeling including genetically engineered and patient-derived xenograft mouse models, human stem cells, cell sorting, live cell imaging, and advanced image processing and analysis. The Division of Brain Tumor Research investigators are also members of the Neurobiology and Brain Tumor Program within the St Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center, and there are abundant opportunities for collaborative interactions with world-class clinical investigators.

We offer very competitive packages, including generous startup funds, equipment, laboratory space, personnel support and potential institutional support beyond the start-up phase. A faculty position at the Assistant and Associate Member level may be considered. Successful applicants may hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, have at least three years of relevant postgraduate experience, and a demonstrated track record of productivity.
