Postdoctoral research opportunity in cardiovascular research. We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with an interest in vascular cell signaling and translational medicine. The laboratory focuses on the role of NADPH oxidases (NOXs) in cell signaling and cardiovascular diseases. Techniques most commonly used in the laboratory include Western blotting, qPCR, gene transfer, biochemical and plate-based spectrophotometric and fluorometric assays, immunofluorescence and in vivo hemodynamic studies. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to benefit from the unique career and mentoring opportunities available in the Vascular Medicine Institute. Moreover, s/he will benefit from a long track record of the lab’s success in mentorship toward an independent career path. Travel to national and international meetings will be supported along with multiple opportunities for networking with leaders in the field. Note: Persons with appropriate citizenship/residency requirements and interests in entrepreneurial training and drug development are highly encouraged to apply for a potential T32 position that focuses on translational research/drug development while defraying cost of an MBA at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field is required. Candidates must have excellent English (oral and written) capabilities, strong interpersonal skills and a proven desire to develop into independent investigators. Self-starters who are resourceful and driven individuals are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant should have extensive expertise in biochemical and molecular biological techniques with a track record of publishing success. Eligibility for NIH Training Grants is a distinct advantage.
Please submit your curriculum vitae, a cover letter detailing your research experience and interests, and the contact details of three references to Dr. Pagano (pagano@pitt.edu).
