The University of Southern California (USC) School of Pharmacy invites applications for a fulltime, 12-month, tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to conduct research and teach in the Department of Pharmacology & Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Description and Qualifications:

The USC School of Pharmacy, the #1 private pharmacy school in the country, is seeking a tenure-track or tenured scientist with research interests in pharmacology and toxicology. Of particular interest are candidates with the demonstrated capability of working in a multidisciplinary department with chemists and biologists.  Candidates must have a doctoral degree and postdoctoral experience in pharmacology, biochemistry, or a related discipline. The successful candidate is expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, and at the Associate Professor level must have already established such a national/international record of accomplishments with clearly impactful publications and funding that warrant tenure consideration. Special attention will be given to candidates with existing or proposed research programs that complement and expand on current departmental strengths, and leading to collaborative therapeutic translational opportunities in drug discovery/development. Successful candidates are also expected to have demonstrated strength and participate in teaching at the graduate and professional levels, especially in the areas of basic and advanced pharmacology.

The Institution:

USC offers cutting-edge opportunities for multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and translational research collaborations, including an NIH-sponsored Clinical and Translational Science Institute, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, two NIH-sponsored Liver and GI Diseases Center, the Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research, the Diabetes & Obesity Research Institute, and the Zilka Neurogenetics Institute. The USC Provost's Initiative provides core infrastructure support in several areas including Biomedical Imaging Sciences, Biomedical Nanoscience, and Neurosciences. USC also offers access to a wide variety of affiliated private and public hospitals, and primary care and specialty clinics. These include the Keck Hospital of USC, Norris Cancer Hospital, Doheny Eye Institute and the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center, along with many other off-campus institutional affiliations.

Benefits and Application Process:

The University of Southern California offers a competitive salary within an academic environment based on the candidate’s experience, accomplishments, and faculty rank. The University also offers excellent benefits to employees, which include: health, dental and life insurance; tuition assistance; disability and retirement plans; credit union membership; and participation in cultural and social events, as well as access to athletic and recreational facilities.
